Planning a Sibling Scavenger Hunt
You are in the business of pregnancies and that comes with bonding with pregnant mothers, but siblings can be an entire new market that either makes or breaks your boutique sales.
Kids can be loud, cranky, overzealous, and just plain wild when they want to be. Coming up with a way to distract, entertain, and include them in the experience can help keep your boutique tidy and make additional sales. If you are feeling a little adventurous, we highly recommend adding a sibling scavenger hunt to your boutique!
Planning a Sibling Scavenger Hunt
Evaluate Your Space
Consider your space and any restrictions before diving into your planning. Does anything need to be moved around, raised out of reach, or lowered into short-arm reach?
Design the Hunt
Do you want the kids going zig-zag or straight lines? Can there be a destination outside or only in the boutique? Are you wanting a 5-minute experience or 10-15 minutes? (Consider your revenue goals and amount of time you would like Mom, Grandma, Dad, etc to shop.)
Clues or a Map?
Depending on age, kids will need help with either option, but family involvement is not a bad idea because it may lead them to see items they may have skipped over when browsing solo. A map can look like a pirate map with an X that marks the spot, or there can be tasks involved to get a piece of the map. These tasks can be drawing a picture, locating an item, or recording a message for their newest sibling. Clues can include questions about becoming a big sibling to get their next hint and where to go in the boutique. You can get as creative as you’d like!
Look or Touch?
Are you okay with kids touching everything in the boutique or do you want to put stipulations on items? You can include these wishes with questions/clues, or you can shift your displays to prevent damage.
Determine the Prize
Are you adding a treasure box full of kid-friendly items, or do you want to create personalized big sibling stickers? You can include a discounted or BOGO Heartbeat Animal so that the sibling has his own, as well.
Social Media Marketing
Do not miss this opportunity to collect fun content to share on social platforms! With parent-permission, you may include bloopers, create reels, share funny photos, etc. Include a backdrop, reviews from the siblings, and your logo on everything.
Ultrasounds can mean family fun, and including those older siblings is good for business.
